When you're prone to redness, you may notice that your face flushes far more easily during the winter months. Everything from cold air to high wind to low humidity can cause your skin to turn crimson, plus, "our skin also goes through quick temperature changes from the cold outdoors to the heat indoors, which can also activate a flush in the skin," explains Neil Scibelli, a celebrity makeup artist in New York City.

If you don't love this rouge-ified look, sometimes regular foundation and concealer aren't enough to cover it up. According to Scibelli, nstead of caking on complexion-colored makeup to try and mask it, your best bet is to counteract it with something green.

"Green color correctors can be a great primer under your concealer, foundation, or even on its own along with a moisturizer, to really neutralize any redness," says Scibeli. "Color correcting references the color wheel and plays off of opposite colors in order to neutralize or change the colors desired. Green neutralizes redness, so it works great to counteract redness even on the skin."
