When Chrissy Teigen recently welcomed her second child, Miles, into the world, her days of cooking complex, multi-step meals got put on the back burner in favor of some new obvious priorities. Through her searches for simple dinners that are both quick to make and cleanup, she discovered a one-step method that saves time (and, let’s be real, sanity) without compromising taste or quality: healthy sheet-pan recipes.
To create these simple meals, simply secure tinfoil over a baking sheet, toss on all of the ingredients, and bake. This way, you can cook a full feast without dirtying all your cookware, which is an aspect that Teigen is particularly fond of. “I’m fascinated by ‘sheet pan meals’ right now—sides and main cooked on the same temp at the same time on the same pan,” she tweeted.
I am fascinated by "sheet pan meals" right now – sides and main cooked on the same temp at the same time on the same pan. New York Times cooking has some of the best. This is tonight: https://t.co/cOZCsAdxxd
The formula for sheet-pan meals is super easy, so you don’t even really need a recipe: Pick your protein, grab some hearty sides, and go nuts with spices. (Teigen’s current fave? Chicken with chickpeas and red onion, seasoned with turmeric, lemon juice, and cumin.) When you’re done, just plate the contents of the pan and toss the tinfoil mess into the garbage. Easiest dinner ever, or what?
