Every Denim Trend Coming for Your Favorite Skinny Jeans in 2019
Waistlines are on the rise (literally, some higher than the belly button) and legs are getting roomier. Everything from a slight boot-cut to a '70s wide-leg pant is fair game for spring. Colorful denim is also in bloom, from neutral shades like pink, lavender, and olive to bright, bold colors like magenta, blue, and red.
While all of the newness in denim is exciting, one of the top denim trends is the return of the classic straight leg. The cut, which Levi’s 501s have made famous again and again (and again and again) is back in a big way. In every shade of blue imaginable, the classic fit is the comfort jean a lot of women will be living in this year. Whether you refer to them as your “mom” jean or as your “vintage style,” this fit is wide enough in the thigh, high enough at the waist and roomy enough at the calf to feel GOOD.
To figure out what other denim trends will be coming for our skinny jeans in 2019, we checked in with stylist Megan Hungerford, to get her favorite picks for each of our denim trends. Whether she's styling editorial features or online catalogs, these are the jeans she can't live without for Spring.

High-rise
Hungerford says skyscrapers are easily the most flattering jean you can buy! Make sure you find a high-rise style that hugs you at the smallest part of your waist for the best fit. A French tuck is a go-to styling tip for showing off high waisted denim, but try knotting a tee at the hem or tying a button front blouse for an elevated look.
J.Crew 10" Higher-Rise Toothpick Eco Jean, $90
Rebecca Taylor La Vie Mirielle High Waisted Jean, $195
Everlane Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Jean, $68
Colored denim
Colored denim is for more than just a white shirt, says Hungerford. Pair these spring hues with colorful stripes or a modern floral top.
Parker Smith Ava Skinny Jean in Julep, $179
LC Lauren Conrad Feel Good Cuffed Midrise Skinny Ankle in Pink, $37
7 For All Mankind Ankle Skinny Jean in Soft Lilac, $179
L'Agence Margot Jean in Magenta, $225
Wide-leg (from bootcut to flare)
Hungerford says a wide-leg/flare jean is perfect for women who are balancing out full hips. Try a cropped pair if you wear sneakers and flats; long flare jeans look best skimming the floor with a chunky heel.
Ella Moss High Waist Flare Jean, $110
J.Crew Demi-Boot Crop Eco Jean, $90
Madewell Cali Demi-Boot Jean, $135
Rag & Bone Jean Nina Flare, $225

Here's the trick to wearing high-waisted jeans so you don't wind up with a front butt, just FYI.
