You know those skin-care and beauty products that you use until the very last drop? The ones that you’ve spent entire brunches/text threads/email chains telling your friends about? They’re the best of the best…so amazing that you’d never risk putting them in a piece of checked luggage. At Well+Good, we call those our Beauty VIPs (you know, Very Important Products). In this series, we ask women in wellness and the public eye what beauty products they use every single day and why—with an entire Internet of options to choose from—these items stand out.
Movie star Emma Roberts might play the mean girl on screen (Scream Queens, anyone?), but IRL she's pretty down-to-earth. In fact, she's a bookworm—one who gets more pleasure out of recommending books to people than anything else (i.e. why she's been running a book club, called Belletrist, with her best friend for a year now).
Oh, and she's got a seriously impressive self-care routine: "I wake up really early, but sleep to me is the most important thing," says Roberts. "In the morning, I've been meditating, and I've been working with some crystals. Today I meditated with aquamarine, which is my new favorite stone." Now, that doesn't sound so villainous.
"I always try to let my skin breathe."
As for maintaining her glow, the actress takes care of her skin so that it (ideally) never gets inflamed. "For me, I try to avoid getting my skin to that place [where it's breaking out]," she says. "When I'm not working, I like to not wear makeup since it'll clog my pores. I always try to let my skin breathe."
But when it comes to skin care? Well, then Roberts is a bona fide beauty obsessee. "I'm also a product junkie," she says. "It's a problem—every surface of my bathroom is covered with products. I'll try anything—I don't need any convincing." Here, she sounds off on those essentials that keep her jet-setting complexion in check.
