Summer has no shortage of signature cocktails (hello, frosé) but it’s rare to find one that’s got the Instagram potential and the health benefits to make you want to keep sipping long after the weather calls for a frozen drink.
Until you meet the cactus water margarita. The lightly sweet libation has all the zip you want in a cocktail, and could help to potentially prevent hangovers as you drink it. Because cactus water is so intensely hydrating and filled with electrolytes (plus, it’s low on sugar and calories) it’s the ideal mixer for balmy nights or just when you’re craving a marg.
Sans alcohol, cactus water still boasts some pretty powerful benefits (which is why we tapped it as the it wellness sip of the summer). Loaded with antioxidants and reportedly anti-inflammatory properties, cactus water is moving up in the ranks of functional beverages—and the only all-organic version you can get is from Steaz.
To put its rehydrating powers to the test, we teamed up with Steaz to host a Mid-Summer Yoga Fiesta at Yoga Vida in New York City’s NoHo ‘hood. After an evening of back-to-back yoga seshes, sweaty readers tried out the full Steaz lineup of Iced Green Tea, Organic Energy, and Cactus Water—and, of course, the super-powered margarita. Spoiler alert: It was a hit.

Fiesta-goers were greeted with a colorful welcome—and the promise of a post-class cocktail.
The Hydration Station provided tastings of all three Steaz sips for detoxifying, hydrating, and energizing benefits…
…and paired each boosted beverage with a matching sheet mask from Alba for extra skin-care goodness.
Lots of thirsty yogis came through in search of their favorite flavor (peach, blueberry pomegranate, and unsweetened passionfruit were crowd favorites among the iced green teas).
In the rear of the studio, bartenders prepped the main refreshment of the evening: the cactus water margaritas.
The event included four 65-person yoga classes (two of which were hot) taught by Yoga Vida’s pro instructors.
Between classes, bartenders replenished the pretty pink cocktails for the next round of thirsty yogis.
Soaking in the good vibes (and also dreaming about those margs).

Yogis socialized, snacked, and sipped at one of two pop-up margarita bars in the NoHo studio.
Grain-free chips from Siete were the perfect post-class snack—because no margarita bar is complete without chips and guac (and mini-cacti, of course).
Class goers rehydrated (and posed for photo ops) with Steaz Cactus Water. The fave flavor of the night? Cucumber Green Tea.
Team Well+Good handed out swag bags to party-goers on their way out the door…

Cactus Water Margarita
Yields 1 margarita
Ingredients
4 oz. Steaz Cactus Water (any flavor variation will work*)1/2 oz. lime juice1 oz. tequila
1. Add all ingredients to a cold cocktail shaker.
2. Shake, then pour into a glass. Garnish with a salt rim and lime. Serve and enjoy!
