This Is What Kind of Gemini You Are, According to Your Moon Sign
One of these is the moon, which is said to rule a person's emotions. If you know your birth time and place, you can get a copy of your natal chart for free, and it'll show you your moon sign—the spot in the sky where the moon was hanging out when you were born. "The moon sign is the intimate or even secret side of your personality that you don't always let everyone see," says astrologer and women's empowerment coach Natalia Benson. "If you get to know your moon sign, you can get to know your emotional responses and what you need in intimate relationships."
When the energies of your sun and moon signs collide, they create a portrait of you that's more nuanced than the one you get from your sun sign alone—and the same goes for all the other planets in your chart. "A person's chart is so vast, but the complexities of it are what makes astrology so fascinating," says Benson. So what kind of Gemini are you, when you take your moon sign into account? Read on and find out.

Gemini with an Aries moon
Geminis are known for being wishy-washy, but those with an Aries moon often know exactly how they feel—and they aren't afraid to tell you. "This may be a Gemini who's very quick to respond," says Benson. "They're very action-oriented, and even emotionally fiery." This is different from the twins' typical expression, she adds, which is more intellectual and detached.
Gemini with a Taurus moon
Benson describes the typical Gemini energy as being hummingbird-like—flitting from idea to idea, and person to person. But Taurus moon can often act as a grounding force. "The moon in Taurus is a very stable placement, so it can allow the Gemini to be more patient and steady in their communication and expression," she says.
Gemini with a Gemini moon
This combination takes the usual Gemini traits to the extreme, which can be a bit challenging. "On an emotional level, they might need a lot of communication in their relationships to feel clear and centered," Benson says. "They can even be a little disconnected. Gemini is an air sign, and if you have a lot of air in your chart, you can very easily overanalyze and get in your head about stuff."
Gemini with a Cancer moon
The nurturing, homebody qualities of the Cancer moon can tone down Gemini's independent streak, says Benson. "Having the moon in Cancer can lend itself to feeling and empathizing for the people who are closest to them, whereas a Gemini moon is more about doing their own thing," she says. "This placement can give the Gemini more emotional depth."
Gemini with a Leo moon
Someone with this mix may well be a YouTube star, says Benson. "Geminis are very expressive—you might see them being really active on social media—and a moon in Leo is someone who doesn't mind being in the spotlight," she says. "They're very open and vocal about their viewpoints on life." This is also a moon sign that values loyalty, which isn't typically a Gemini's strong point.
Gemini with a Virgo moon
"This placement can give the Gemini a very meticulous personality, especially on intimate levels," says Benson. "They may be very choosy about who they pick to share their ideas and secrets with." Unlike other Geminis, this one won't just spill their guts to anyone who will listen. "This would be someone who’s going to make you prove yourself over time before they really express who they are," Benson adds.
Gemini with a Libra moon
On an emotional level, says Benson, this Gemini might look to intimate partnerships and one-on-one friendships for support. "They have to have outlets with their intimate friends and partners to share ideas and get things off their chest," she says. Both Gemini and Libra are communicative air signs, which magnifies a Gemini's chattiness (think: marathon phone calls and regular check-ins via text).
Gemini with a Scorpio moon
This Gemini makes decisions from their head, but with an extra assist from their strong intuition and gut feelings. "A Scorpio moon can read people quite deeply and quickly," says Benson. "With Gemini's very active intellect, that can be a tricky combo because they might want to write people off easily." On the flip side, however, it also makes them good at setting boundaries when the energy in a relationship is off.
Gemini with a Sagittarius moon
"This placement can give a very upbeat, inquisitive, adventurous side to the Gemini personality," says Benson. Sagittarius is a fire-sign moon, but it's not quite as in-your-face as Aries and Leo. The result? "Gemini with a Sag moon is jovial, optimistic, and very open—they want to talk to you about the visions they have and the things they're looking to do." Sounds like the perfect travel buddy, no?
Gemini with a Capricorn moon
This Gemini is going to get a lot of emotional satisfaction from their nine-to-five life—preferably from a corner office. "They may be workaholics who put their nose to the grindstone and make things happen," says Benson. "Any planet in Capricorn likes stability and consistency over time, and this can give a Gemini that grounded element that is not always attributed to their sign."
Gemini with an Aquarius moon
Another double-air-sign combination, this Gemini is quite cool and analytical—but they get fired up about their ideals. "A moon in Aquarius can give this Gemini a bit of a humanitarian streak," Benson explains. "When they're really passionate and care about a cause, it gets their emotions going." This placement can also bring out the sociable, group-loving side of the Gemini, she adds.
Gemini with a Pisces moon
"The moon in Pisces is very empathetic—they feel a lot of things and are very concerned about the well-being of the people around them," says Benson. "This is unique for Gemini because, as we've said, Gemini doesn’t really go there on their own." This Gemini might even have psychic tendencies, and Benson adds that it's a great combination for creativity. Oh, and, as she points out, Kanye West is a Gemini with a Pisces moon. Enough said.
