What is GreenPan?
Have you ever stopped to wonder what's inside the cookware you use every day? While harmful chemicals have been mostly kicked out of the kitchen by now, some folks still like to err on the side of caution. As a result, in 2007, the Belgian company GreenPan saw a market for ceramic nonstick cookware that was made without per- and polyfluorinated substances (or PFAS) or lead. Instead, the brand uses a proprietary sand-based material called Thermolon, which is manufactured without toxins like PFAS, PFOA, lead, or cadmuim.
Today GreenPan produces a wide variety of pots, pans, electric kitchen appliances, and cooking utensils. The brand is focused on sustainability, with their own wastewater treatment plant, a partially-solar-powered factory, and they claim to create 60 percent less CO2 during the curing phase (compared to traditional nonstick pans).
