Hailey Bieber’s Secret for Fuller Lips Takes 15 Seconds, and It’s *So* Much Easier Than Any Other Trick We’ve Tried
Ask any makeup artist their secret for fuller-looking lips, and you're bound to hear the phrase "over-line with liner" in their response. It's a trick that beauty buffs have kept in their back pocket for years, but similar to the perfect cat eye, it's not the easiest to pull off.
That's why we're fawning over Hailey Bieber's lip-plumping trick, which takes approximately 15 seconds to apply and doesn't require steady, surgical-level precision. In a recent TikTok video, the model revealed that she creates her signature pout by simply applying a few extra strokes of liner at the very top of her lips.

"When I do lip liner, I actually only over-line right here," Bieber says while pointing to her Cupid's Bow. "Then the rest I follow my lip shape."
... So you're saying we don't have to over-line our entire mouths with a bright pop of color to make our lips stand out?! A few subtle stokes above the Cupid's Bow in our natural hue will do? Count us in.
To carry out the trick, Bieber uses a brownish-pink Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil ($20) that's a dead ringer for her natural lip color (though it's tough to tell what the actual shade is). We're suckers for products that multitask, which this pencil does effortlessly. Choose from over 30 shades to emphasize lips, line eyes, and color in brows, all in a long-lasting matte finish. For $20, it's essentially four different products in one—talk about bang for your buck.

The best part about this trick is that the right liner is truly all you need to fake the appearance of fuller lips—you don't even need to bother with lipstick. As a finishing touch, Bieber simply applies a sheer, glossy balm—in this case, she uses Ormedic Image Skincare Lip Enhancement Complex ($25). "This is my quick version of, 'When I'm feeling lazy makeup', so I'm not even going to do a lip color," she says. Technically, the gloss isn't totally colorless—it's a slightly pigmented sheer pink, but the hue is so subtle you wouldn't even know it's there.
This ultra-hydrating gloss is slightly pigmented to give lips a natural tint.
By the end of the video, Bieber's lips look so freakin' good and flawlessly full—the liner/gloss combo really do plump her pout perfectly. For $20 and 15-20 seconds of our time (and no risk of overlining your lips to the point of accidentally looking like a clown), we'll be copying this makeup trick from here on out.
