Yes, it may seem like Blake Lively’s living a #flawless existence. She’s got a handsome (and funny!) husband, Ryan Reynolds, two cute kids (Ines, who turns 1 in September, and James, 2), and a killer career (she stars in and is executive producing the upcoming film The Husband’s Secret). The former Gossip Girl turns 30 next month, and on the September cover of Glamour, she explains that while people are always commenting on her “perfect” clothes, hair, and family, that’s not quite what she’s going for.
“When you read, ‘Oh, she’s got a perfect life,’ or ‘Her life is crumbling’—they pick narratives for everyone. And the narratives stick.”
“It’s nonsense,” she says. “It simplifies people…The night before an interview, I have complete anxiety: How is this person going to spin me? So when you read, ‘Oh, she’s got a perfect life,’ or ‘Her life is crumbling’—they pick narratives for everyone. And the narratives stick.”
And when it comes to parenting two young girls, Lively says she’s just doing her best. “We’re all born feeling perfect until somebody tells us we’re not,” Lively says. “Do I know how to be the best parent for a daughter? No, I have no idea.
