One second you’re enjoying a totally delish dish, and the next you’re unbuttoning pants due to stomach discomfort. Post-meal bloat is real, you guys, and everyone deals with it. (There’s even a bloating-positivity movement on Instagram). While bloating is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, it’s certainly uncomfortable—and one actress has a secret tip that always helps to calm down her tummy.
Actress Jamie Chung is a big fan of veggies and eats them all throughout the day, whether it’s in her go-to breakfast scramble, mixed-green salad for lunch, or stir-fry for dinner, she tells Byrdie. The only problem? All that fiber often contributes to bloating. But Chung has a secret weapon in her health-boosting arsenal to ensure she doesn’t walk around all day feeling like a balloon. “I’ll usually make myself tea. It includes fresh mint, lots of fresh shaved ginger, lemon, and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Sometimes I’ll add a bit of honey.”

Chung says the simple combo helps her body digest properly and fight off all that not-so-fun bloating in the process. It also helps that everything she uses for her de-bloating brew is so fresh, including the mint, which comes straight from a small plant in her kitchen. “I have a constant stock of mint at all times,” she says. So the next time you’re feeling puffy and uncomfortable, try her method of getting some relief. (And a delicious midday pick-me-up.)
