Earlier today, Reese Witherspoon #blessed the internet with news that’s giving me heart palpitations: Legally Blonde 3 is officially happening. (Cue a celebratory bend and snap!)

The actress, advocate, and businesswoman posted an Instagram video (around 8:45 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, let the history records show) that featured a familiar scene for Elle Woods fans. The Queen of Pink floated across the surface of a crystal blue pool in a video captioned with two simple words and a hashtag: “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3.”

Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, who brought the 2001 flick to life from the original Amanda Brown novel, are in final talks to write the script now, according to Deadline. So hopefully the movie will hit theaters before this time next year. (What? Like making a feature film is hard?)

The good news doesn’t stop there: Witherspoon will co-produce the movie under the Hello Sunshine banner, which is her media brand “anchored in storytelling, creating and discovering content that celebrates women and puts them at the center of the story.” So, just like Witherspoon herself and her boss-babe character Elle Woods, the third installment will be a champion for feminine ambition and fearlessness in the face of challenges, through and through.

Anyone else totally jonesing for a back-to-back Legally Blonde movie marathon? Sounds like the perfect agenda for a summer women’s circle gathering.
