Move over, Oprah. There’s a new book club in town—and its fearless reader-leader is actress, sneaker designer, and library lover Sarah Jessica Parker. So you can add “reading with SJP” to your list of self-care practices, stat. (After you’ve checked out our top picks for 2017, of course.)
“From an early age, books were my constant companions and my local library a place I could find a new friend on every shelf,” Parker said in a release. “I’m thrilled to help champion original voices for dedicated readers as well as for a new generation, supporting libraries in what they do best.”

Parker’s first executive order as HRIC (that’s head reader in charge, of course) was choosing the club’s inaugural material: Stephanie Powell Watts’ debut novel No One Is Coming to Save Us, which Parker called “deeply compelling and richly satisfying.”
