How to Always Smell Good—Even in the Summer
The only thing about summer that stinks (pun intended)? When triple-digit temps leave you sweaty and feeling gross. The good news: We rounded up five tricks that will keep you smelling yummy no matter what. Trust us, we put it to the super steamy test!
1. Choose "cool" scents
Stick with citrus, green fruits, and watery florals, suggests Mark Knitowski, senior vice president of product development and innovation at Victoria's Secret. These notes have a strong trail (which means people will get a whiff as you walk by) and create a vibe of being refreshed and chillaxed. It’s like the perfume version of thinking cool thoughts.
2. LITERALLY cool your scents
Another genius tip from Mark: Store your perfume in the fridge. This preserves its strength and quality, helps it last longer when applied, and will feel chilly and amazing when you put it on! #triplethreat
3. Use dry oil first
To make your fragrance last longer, apply dry oil to all of your pulse points before spraying on your scent, Mark explains. Perfume clings to hydrated skin longer. Weird, but true.

4. Spritz perfume on your strands
Perfume really sticks to hair because of its natural oils, says Tanwi Nandini Islam, founder of Hi Wildflower Botanica. Instead of (or in addition to) your wrists and neck, mist some into your hair too.
5. Give your room a signature scent
It's not just our bods that can use a fragrance boost when it’s hot out! Make your room (or dorm or apartment) smell delish by lighting two or three of the same candles instead of mixing up different scents. This is a trick that five star hotels and spas use so that it always smells consistently fabulous.
