Jennifer Aniston Sips This Smoothie Every Morning for Ageless Skin
Jennifer Aniston's "rebellious" phase was mostly defined by sugary cereal. "My mom was a real health fanatic. I was one of those kids who had, like, wheat germ and oatmeal and sprouted everything bread. I was never allowed to have Fruity Pebbles and Captain Crunch," she tells Well+Good. "When I moved out in my early 20s, my rebellion wasn't drinking and smoking and going to cool clubs, it was eating Fruit Loops."
But it didn't take long for Aniston, 51, to realize that her mom was clearly onto something with all that healthy food—a fact that has influenced her relationship with wellness ever since. "I felt like sh*t, which made sense because what we put into our bodies can have such an effect on our moods... It's not just about nutritional wellness, it's about emotional wellness, too," says Aniston. "I've always been health aware and mindful about what I put into my body and how I take care of myself, not only so I can look great and trim and fit into my jeans but also for longevity and for my bones, my muscles, and my brain."
Now, instead of starting the day with a kick of high-fructose corn syrup, Aniston opts for a chocolatey (but healthy!) collagen-infused smoothie. "I have a sweet tooth, but only for really healthy things, so this has just made my life—it's perfect and amazing," she says. Her morning beverage is made with Vital Proteins Chocolate Collagen Powder ($37), chocolate almond milk, cinnamon, maca berry, cacao, matcha powder, and spinach—a concoction that's not only good for her body and brain, but also for her skin.
The body's natural collagen-production slows as it gets older, which causes fine lines and wrinkles, and dermatologists confirm that regularly sipping on straight-up collagen and collagen-stimulating ingredients can help to keep skin smooth and bright. This smoothie contains both.

Vital Proteins collagen powder is known for its complexion boosting benefits, and by pairing it with other skin-friendly ingredients, Aniston has managed to keep her complexion looking virtually ageless. Spinach and matcha are both rich in antioxidants, which can help protect your skin from environmental stressors, and maca is known to be a superfood that can help ramp up your body's collagen production (and then some). “Maca has a lot of vitamin C, and that increases your collagen and fights free radicals that can cause everything from skin damage to inflammation,” Keri Glassman, MS, RD, CDN and founder of Nutritious Life previously told Well+Good. “It’s also got vitamins D and E, which regulate collagen production as well.”
Considering Aniston seems to be aging in reverse, this is one skin-care routine to steal for yourself.
