I spent way too many years of my life chemically or manually straightening my hair because, like most human teenagers, I couldn’t fathom what it’s like to appreciate what I have (insert grass is greener quote here). I have naturally wavy-curly hair that has the tendency to frizz with even the mention of humidity in the air, and it’s taken me about 27 years to figure out how to treat, style, and maintain it. A lot of curly hair products left my hair feeling crunchy, or too slick and oily. Some of them weighed my hair down, making my hair look greasy and limp. It was basically a crapshoot situation up until I discovered the right tools (like this Davines hair oil that consistently gives me perfect air-dry days).
The latest hair product in heavy rotation is the Kérastase Curl Manifesto collection, a hair-care lineup that includes a shampoo, conditioner, and various creams and gels that either give curls more definition or infuse lightweight hydration. First up is their shampoo and conditioner.

Curl Manifesto Sulfate-Free Shampoo for Curly Hair — $35.00
I love this shampoo because it’s sulfate-free, yet gives your scalp a nice, deep clean (with a lot of sulfate formulas, I’ve found that they don’t strip away oils as effectively, and personally make my hair still feel dirty post-wash). Made for wavy, curly, and coily hair that’s either fine, medium, or thick, this shampoo formula tackles dryness and frizz, and promotes overall shine. Key ingredients include deeply-hydrating manuka honey, and ceramides, which help lock that moisture in and fight breakage.
Curl Manifesto Lightweight Conditioner for Curly Hair — $42.00
Like its shampoo counterpart, Curl Manifesto conditioner works to hydrate hair to leave it silky smooth and soft post-wash. Its lightweight formula keeps strands from feeling weighed down or deflated.
Post-shower, I apply a little bit of the Curl Manifesto hair oil that gives my waves a better bounce, leaves strands shiny, and hydrates my scalp.
Curl Manifesto Nourishing Scalp & Hair Oil for Curly Hair — $51.00
You only need a pump or two of this hair oil—a tiny bit goes a long way. The formula helps strengthen hair while simultaneously enhancing your curls’ natural definition. You can also use the oil before shampooing to detangle hair and condition the scalp.
Whether I leave my hair to air dry, use a blow dryer (with a diffuser attachment), or go to bed with wet hair and hope for the best in the morning, I always end up with gorgeous waves and curls I don’t have to majorly style, or really do anything to at all. Hair care that not only delivers results but also saves me precious minutes of the day is a winner in my book.
