Aside from making sure they talk through their issues rather than storming out mid-fight, this dynamic duo also treats their marriage as if it were a job, making sure to prioritize their relationship as they would a professional, paying gig. That means most date nights are planned in advance.

“You have to take it as seriously as you take your work commitments. It has to be scheduled, and you have to prioritize it, or it doesn’t happen,” Dax Shepard, on his marriage.

“If I say, ‘Hey, what are you doing Thursday?,’ it’s never going to happen. But if I put something on the calendar, it works out,” Shepard told People. “You have to take it as seriously as you take your work commitments. It has to be scheduled, and you have to prioritize it, or it doesn’t happen.”

Aside from pre-planning quality time together (which involves trips to the roller rink, as seen above!), they also aren’t shy about going to couple’s therapy. Which, by the way, isn’t just for when you’re having problems.

“We have a very healthy marriage and we got there by doing therapy when we needed it, and constantly doing fierce moral inventories,” Bell said earlier this year. “We both take responsibility when we are wrong, and I think it is easy to work with him because I married him, because I enjoy spending time with him, and I trust him.”
