Despite tragic celebrity breakups happening on the reg (RIP Brangelina…yes, still), some famous love stories can really give the rest of the world heart eyes (and hope). Just look at Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, for example, who are clearly still swooning over each other.
The Big Little Lies star and her musician hubby have been together a solid 12 years and aren’t afraid to show PDA (*sigh*). While many couples credit things like communication as the key to a healthy relationship, their secret is not doing something that you probably do all the time: texting.
“We’ve never texted,” Kidman told Parade magazine. “That is so not our relationship.” Gasp.
It’s not that they don’t talk to each other, though—they just happen to do it the old-fashioned way. “We call,” says Kidman. “We’ve done this since the very beginning.” She explains that things just get lost in translation over text…something I totally get, as someone who needs at least three girlfriends deciphering a text from a guy (just me?).
“We just do voice to voice or skin to skin, as we always say,” adds Kidman. “We talk all the time and we FaceTime but we just don’t text because I feel like texting can be misrepresentative at times.” Ain’t that the truth. Well, as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder—and, when they miss each other, they’ll hop onto a plane, admits the actress. Talk about relationship #goals.
