This new glamping destination is an IRL version of ‘The Oregon Trail’ (minus the cholera)

For adventurous wanderlusters, glamping is the best of both worlds. You can spend the day basking in all wonders of the outdoors (Hiking! Waterfall-chasing! Forest bathing!) before returning to your rustic-chic tent to layer on a face masks and catch up with your pre-downloaded Netflix queue. But if you want to catapult your outdoor experience to the next level—like The Oregon Trail–level authenticity—without giving up AC and/or heat, you might consider booking one of Yosemite Pines RV Resort and Family Lodging’s Conestoga Wagons.

Starting at $179 a night, the two new wagons are located 22 miles west of the Big Oak Flat entrance of Yosemite National Park, and sleep four and six people, respectively, Afar reports. And better yet, Yosemite Pines is offering a buy-one, get-one deal on nightly stays in the covered wagons through September 30.

On the outside, the early 19th century–inspired “trailer” looks just like the animated vehicles in the (retrospectively kind of dark) The Oregon Trail video game. You can go ahead and relax though, because death traps common to the pioneer era, like snake bites, typhoid, and scarlet fever, are unlikely. Instead, your abode will be furnished with real beds, a fridge and microwave, a coffee pot, and the aforementioned temperature-regulating systems we all know and love. Just steps outside your door, you’ll also find a fire pit fit for marshmallow roasting, as well as showers and bathrooms for keeping your hygiene up to glamping par.

So if you, like the early American settlers, are seeking a Western getaway, pastoral meets swank is definitely the, er, route to take.
