A low-key V-Day is what happy couples crave, survey results show

Once Valentine’s Day rolls around, you and your S.O. might feel the need to make dinner reservations at that trendy new Italian place or shed big bucks for flowers and chocolate. According to one survey, though, a whole bunch of happy couples aren’t interested in the romantic mumbo jumbo.

The wedding registry and planning company Zola surveyed hundreds of newlywed couples and found they don’t make too much of a fuss over celebrating Valentine’s Day. With 41 percent claiming their most memorable Valentine’s Day ever was simply a low-key night at home, it’s safe to assume that a big, fancy night out isn’t in the cards. And when it comes to giving each other gifts, 53 percent of the newlyweds skip the gesture altogether. (That doesn’t count for buying gifts for yourself, though—don’t worry.)

So, how do these happy couples spend V-Day, then? Well, 64 percent said they definitely plan on being intimate: It is the most romantic day of the year, after all, whether you’re sitting at home in sweats or all dolled up for a night out on the town.
