This $9 2-in-1 Shampoo Scalp Scrub Gets Rid of 5 Days of Dry Shampoo Buildup—And Leaves My Hair Silky Soft

Washing my hair has, let’s just say, been put on the back burner since I became a mom in 2019, and even more so since the pandemic began and I’ve spent most of my time at home. It comes out as a paste, then turns into a foam with tiny, soft crystal salt that gently exfoliates. I have a pretty sensitive scalp, but using this scrub doesn’t irritate or inflame my skin. It’s just the right amount of grit and texture without being harsh and abrasive. That’s thanks to ingredients like kaolin and bentonite clays, which absorb oil and dirt, leaving hair feeling clean and fresh.

The combination of marula oil, coconut oil, and shea butter means it leaves my hair super soft, silky, and shiny. Though it’s meant for curly hair, I have been using it on my fine, straight hair, and it doesn’t weigh it down like other products, especially those containing those heavier oils, tend to.

Also? The fragrance is also delightful. There is a hint of beach from the coconut oil, but it’s totally understated and not at all overpowering. Definitely a bonus for those of us who like a little bit of fragrance, but not so much that it follows us around the next day.

I really like that it foams like a true shampoo—many other scalp scrubs don’t. They kind of just sit on your scalp (a lot of them just feel like you’re rubbing in sea salt), but not this stuff. It really gets in there—and I’ve tried my fair share of scrubs, including super fancy ones that are four times the price of my Marc Anthony pick.
