On October 5, the The New York Times published an exposé detailing sexual abuse and harassment accusations against film mogul Harvey Weinstein that go back decades. In the aftermath of the story (plus another separate investigation by The New Yorker), dozens of women have come forward detailing the trauma, harassment, and abuse they say they suffered at the hands of Weinstein.
The revelation set off major outrage and triggered frank discussions about the realities of the harassment many women (and men) face in the office—and it's all led to an outpouring of support for victims of sexual assault. Yesterday, Alyssa Milano—whose Charmed co-star Rose McGowan has essentially become the Joan of Arc of the Weinstein scandal—shared a message on her social media channels: "If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote 'Me Too.' as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem."
If your Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook feeds are like mine, they're filled with an endless stream of people proclaiming "me too."
