Nike’s Dreamy New NYC HQ Puts Every Other Office to Shame

When Nike opened 45 Grand in 2015, the secret society-esque private workout space was an immediate hit—for a select few, that is. Fitness insiders who were granted access to the invitation-only studio flocked downtown to work out with Nike trainers and test the brand's newest products. Almost overnight, the question on everyone wellness-savvy New Yorker's mind became, "How do I get in?"

Now, there's another big-deal Nike studio opening in New York City—and we can give you a peek inside at all the swoosh-worthy details.

It's part of the company's new NYC headquarters—a six-floor, 150,000-square-foot space that opened yesterday in midtown, just blocks away from the Empire State Building. While the brand will still call Beaverton, OR, its corporate home base, the new hub is part of the mega-brand's plan to expand its footprint (er, Cortez-print) in the city. And it's pretty darn amazing.

You're going to be seeing the office all over Instagram

Prepare to peep it in your feed, along with the latest unicorn creation or coconut oil hack. The dreamy space includes a massive outdoor area with sweeping views of the Empire State Building, Freedom Tower, and Madison Square Garden. Plus, that garden? It's actually a giant Nike swoosh formed by an arrangement of plants—and it's oh-so-photogenic.

They've created a new (super-sporty) way to start the day

When Nike employees get to work in the morning, they're treated like pro athletes (design-wise, that is). The walk into the office looks like the entrance to an arena: It's a dark, concrete tunnel...and then, as you ascend the stairs, you suddenly emerge into the light—and you're ready to play (er, work). And once you're inside, you can stay in motion because the bright, airy space has no assigned desks. Employees have designated lockers, but they're free to hole up and plug in wherever they like.

In addition to a private fitness studio, meditation rooms, and indoor food trucks serving up healthy snacks like protein bars and (uber-trendy, gut-healthy) bone broth, the space includes a 4,000-square-foot full-length basketball court (with room for 400 of your biggest fans to watch from the bleachers), which is open to anyone who wants to book it.
