Oribe Canales, the hairstylist who co-founded the brand, apparently wanted the scent to smell “like you crawled into a [Hermès] Birkin bag and died,” which is delightfully dramatic and also, big mood.

This product is part of the brand’s Highly Textured collection that’s specifically for curly and coily textures. The brand developed the products with celebrity stylist and natural hair educator Stacey Ciceron, and it’s formulated with a blend of hydrating, repairing butters and oils like cocoa seed, olive, and avocado. The creamy formula gives curls moisture and slip without weighing them down.

3. Oribe Split End Seal, $38 (originally $48)
The only true way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off, something I actually tried to do myself back in the dark days of July. This product is the next best thing to a professional trim, and infinitely better than my haphazard at-home attempt. It makes it easier to brush through wet hair and smoothes out split ends, so hair looks healthy and silky.

4. Oribe Gold Lust Repair and Restore Shampoo, $39 (originally $49)
Last year I was staying at the Four Seasons—to experience their wellness offerings! for work! I miss 2019!—and one night I found myself wrapped in one of their plush robes, drinking red wine out of the bottle, and lightly sobbing because I was in love with the guy I was sleeping with, but he wasn’t in love with me. This moisturizing shampoo imparts my 2020 crying-in-the-shower sessions with luxury, capturing that same sense of glamorous sorrow, but now I’m lightly sobbing over the decline of democracy (and, okay yes, a boy). It contains a blend of cypress extract, maracuja oil, and argan oil that nourishes damaged hair and makes it the kind of soft you can’t stop running your hands through.

Canales got the idea to develop a signature scent for the products while traveling with JLo (casual, but fitting for a brand for which the original storyboard featured red diamonds, leopards, and a Bugatti). Oribe launched fragrance in 2014, a huge moment for those of us who were basically bathing in our dry texturizing spray.
