And according to Hector Espinal—a global makeup artist for Rihanna’s line, Fenty Beauty—that’s no accident. “Anything that’s exposed, we loving putting highlight or shimmer on,” Espinal told E! News. “Anything I do on the face, I do on the ears.

As an added bonus, Espinal says the tactic may be able to help give your love life a boost. “If you’re flirting and you just want to [slowly tuck your hair behind an ear], it can make an impact.” Not to mention, the confidence lift you’ll get by knowing you look fine (AKA Rihanna-approved) can totally help you attract the kind of date you’re after.
