Derived from plant- and mineral-based ingredients, the four new flavors include out-there components like goji berry and pomegranate extracts, organic aloe leaf juice, magnolia bark extract, vitamin E, and heart-fueling CoQ10. "We focused on providing all the essential functions of a toothpaste, but taking it a step farther. We’re innovating formulas that go beyond your teeth." —Jaime Schmidt, Schmidt's Naturals co-founder
"Our customers are seeking effective, high-performing alternatives to traditional personal-care products, and toothpaste is no exception," Schmidt's Naturals co-founder Jaime Schmidt said in a press release. "We focused on providing all the essential functions of a toothpaste, but taking it a step farther with supercharged vitamin and superfood ingredients to encourage overall mouth health. We’re innovating formulas that go beyond your teeth."
These products, which co-founder Michael Cammarata calls the "next level of natural," promise not only to leave your mouth feeling clean, but each flavor—Wondermint, Activated Charcoal (which is gray, not black!), Vanilla Chai, and Coconut + Lime—can also freshen your breath, whiten teeth, and combat plaque and tartar with regular brushing.
But why go natural when there are so many types of toothpaste to choose from? For starters, many of the varieties on store shelves are known for containing controversial ingredients like triclosan, which has been linked to hormonal issues and gut problems. So why not do your body good with, IMO, such fun flavors?
