Yes, it’s nearly Valentine’s Day, the time of year that spas around the country add champagne and chocolate to their treatment menus, if it wasn’t there already.
Here in New York City, finding a spa with the real estate for side-by-side spa treatments is novelty enough. Heck, at the Setai Wall Street (www.setaiclubnewyork.com), one of the few spots south of 14th Street for great couples treatments, the massage tables are actually head to head. Resourceful, no?
Because getting spa treatments together is a win-win gift for you and your sweetie, here are six more spots where we—and a handful of spa-savvy New Yorkers—recommend you book your romantic downtime:
Deva Spa (www.devachansalon.com) in Soho has an incredible couples room with a bathtub, shower, netted canopies—I think you would call them canopies! If you’re not going to Costa Rica together, go here. —Michelle Lapidos, of Spa Week and Spa Week Daily
If I could go anywhere with my Valentine and money was no objection, I would opt for the VIP Spa Suite Experience at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental (www.mandarinoriental.com/newyork), at Columbus Circle. I also think The Spa at Trump SoHo (www.trumphotelcollection.com/soho/) with its Turkish décor has serious romantic appeal. —Heather Mikesell, Executive Editor, American Spa

Getting a massage in the same room is boring to me. I like something more interactive, like the New Moon Treatment at the new Auriga Spa at the Setai Fifth Avenue (www.SetaiFifthAvenue.com). The gorgeous couples’ room has a double steam shower and tub. Plus there’s a co-ed lounge, where you can spend time together.
I also like Body by Brooklyn (www.bodybybrooklyn.com) in Clinton Hill: It’s $45 to stay the whole day and hang out in the various steam rooms and baths. Plus they serve martinis. —Sandra Ramani, travel editor and spa writer for Organic Spa Magazine and formerly NYMAG.com and CitySearch.com
I love the Fusion Massage at Spa Merge (www.spamerge.com) in Midtown. It’s a great mix of traditional massage styles with a real focus on how your body is aligned, and the spa offers it as a couples massage. The delicious mini smoothies and cookies the spa sets out don’t hurt either.—Holly Block, SpaFinder.com
