Sneakers, leggings, and sports bras aren’t necessarily the first items that come to mind when you’re buying or selling vintage or secondhand clothing. But a select group of athleisure brands are basically the new Birkin bags of fitness fashion, remaining as valuable (if not more) on the upcycling scene as they were when they initially flew off shelves. (Think: OG pair of Air Max ’97s.)

In fact, when it comes to best-selling activewear brands, they’re numbers one and two. Same goes over at ThredUp, a similar online reseller. Other in-demand brands? Under Armour, Adidas, and Athleta. (Searches for Lululemon and Athleta have grown substantially in the past year among ThredUp users—46 percent and 48 percent, respectively—while searches for Under Armour have increased 14 percent.)

So what exactly are most people shopping for? Leggings (of course). They’re coveted across all brands. (Read: Will generate some quick cash.) So will certain sold-out, cult-fave pieces, like Lululemon’s Free To Be (Wild) sports bra. “If you have these items in your closet, you can list them for a quick sale,” Franco says. So, should you have more Luon or Dri-FIT in your possession than you can possibly handle, maybe it’s time to Marie Kondo your activewear collection.
