“[It] feels effortlessly contemporary,” says stylist and brand consultant Rachael Wang of the trend that’s appeared across the activewear space from high-end designers like Alala to mass market retailers like Target. “If you’re terrified of the thought of wearing color and prints, the combination freshens up solid wardrobe basics quite nicely, lending a bit of sportiness to any outfit.”
From performance pieces to athleisure staples, Shopbop’s fashion director Caroline Maguire says that black and white is always in style and an easy color combination that everyone can pull off. “The colors complement each other perfectly and are always flattering,” she adds.
