Dyson’s Newest Launch Takes Aim at the 2 Biggest Threats to Skin

And when we’re breathing 23,000 times a day, and inhaling 10,000 liters of air a day, it’s having an effect on our lungs for sure, but it also can have an effect on our skin.”

Indoor pollutants can damage the skin barrier, causing inflammation that can cause dryness, redness, skin irritation, and exacerbate skin conditions like acne, eczema, and rosacea. Add dry air to the equation, which can on its own cause dry, flaky, and itchy skin, and you see that poor indoor air quality can wreak havoc on your complexion. Thanks to Dyson’s new launch, you’ll be able to stave off both with a single machine.

Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde — $900.00

The Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde purifies, humidifies, and cools the air while also destroying formaldehyde. This unit is most similar to the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Cryptomic, which launched in 2020. The biggest difference between the two is that this newer unit is fully sealed to lock in pollutants. A HEPA filter catches 99.97 percent of particles 0.3 microns in size (translation, very small and potentially irritating) while an activated carbon filter removes gases and odors. Plus, a catalytic filter destroys formaldehyde that can seep into your air from pressed-wood products, cleaning agents, paints, wallpapers, and more.

Water for the humidifier is stored at the bottom of the machine. The machine has UV-C technology to remove 99.9 percent of bacteria in your water and uses air multiplier technology to provide mist-free humidification. To keep the machine clean, you can run a deep-clean cycle that busts through all parts of the machine that are exposed to water. The machine will tell you when it’s time to run this cycle.

What it’s like to use the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde

Setting up my Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde was incredibly simple. I just had to remove a few pieces of tape and plastic and lock the parts in place—this took less than five minutes. Next, I connected it to my WiFi and Amazon Alexa so I can control the device without the remote.

The best part of this device is that it streamlines all of my air-quality needs. Before, I was using a standing fan, an air purifier, and a humidifier. Now, I get all of these tools in one sleek product. I love the gold detail on the filter grate—it’s honestly the prettiest air quality tool out there.

More than the fact that it doubles as a piece of decor, I love knowing that it’s doing its thing without my help. Whenever I blow dry my hair or apply hair spray, the purifier kicks into high gear, making my air nice and clean.
