Among the things that could make 22-year-old Gigi Hadid feel good about herself, you might consider her supermodel status, her time spent on the Victoria’s Secret runway, her rockstar boyfriend, her 37 million Instagram followers, or, you know, her incredible genetics.

But at a recent Reebok event in New York City, she cited something more relatable: activewear. “My Reebok high-waisted leggings are a great base for making me feel sexy,” she said. “Thank God for them, and thank God I can cut whatever shirt I want in half [to pair with them].” Long live the crop top. The fitness enthusiast noted that she loves to pair her leggings with sneakers (which are her preferred shoe of choice). “I wear them both in and out of the gym,” she said. “If I’m not comfortable, I feel less confident.”(Her go-to pair is only $80, too.)

Hadid is also a big believer in adding the “third piece” to her athleisure looks, a style trick which originated from her days as a high school volleyball player. “I had to find outfits that would take me from school to the gym and to dinner,” she explained. “That’s where my love of crazy jackets, bags, and shoes comes from—I would layer them over leggings.”

As for which trends this street-style star might set in the new year, there’s one specific style choice for Hadid. “For 2018, I’m really into color,” she said. “Whichever color is the one that makes you smile when you wake up in the morning is the one for you that day. Yellow is the color that always makes me happy.”
