Gone are the days when men were left to roll up to yoga class in basketball shorts or heavy sweatpants (thank goodness.) The time-honored mind and body practice requires movement across a variety of of poses and sequences, making a proper men’s yoga pant necessary to comfortably to go with the flow. Otherwise, they could be left in a bit of a lurch (especially when in Tree Pose.)

Luckily, flexible, flattering men’s yoga pants are aplenty, with a style for every budget and practice level. With so many choices, finding the perfect fit can be as tricky as nailing Crow Pose—but it doesn’t have to be. According to Jamie Bacharach, Dipl.Ac. of Acupuncture Jerusalem in Israel and yoga instructor, it’s vital that your pants can withstand all that bending, stretching, and sweating, long after one wear.

“Generally speaking, yoga pants tend to have a higher waistline, and be closer-fitting and more stretchable overall,” she says. “There’s often a blend of fabrics in yoga pants that’s designed for the high demands of a quality yoga session—like lycra and spandex—and these blends may differ from those found in ordinary workout clothes.” Ideally, she recommends yoga clothing that is made of soft, flexible, breathable, light, opaque, perhaps sweat-wicking material, and able to withstand frequent uses and washes.

This pair of pant is made from 75 percent sustainable materials, blending together both organic cotton fibers and recycled polyester. It’s soft to the touch and has a stretchy fabric that allows for maximum movement.

Although not technically yoga pants by definition or category, compression pants or tights like these from Under Armor are a great solution for yoga. Bacharach points out that their unique properties help relieve soreness and aid in recovery. They’re made using the brand’s “UA Storm” technology that helps repel moisture, leaving you dry even when you’ve been sweating up a storm. They also feature 4-way stretch that allows the material to move effortlessly in just about every direction.
