Getting dressed in the summer should be a breeze compared to seasons where negotiating so.many.layers. is necessary—yet, it’s often fraught with worries of “will I sweat through this?” and “will this bra create an eyesore of my otherwise well-thought-out look?”
Fortunately, there’s an easy solution to the latter dressing conundrum. It lies in the multi-faceted and diverse “stunt bra.”

For the uninitiated, a stunt bra is essentially just an undergarment that does more—yes, it holds your girls up, but it also works for your outfits that require a little more TLC—things that are backless, strapless, one shoulder, and what have you. Sure you can go braless, but for many (like me and my fellow big-breasted females), the idea of living sans support isn’t exactly comfortable, especially in a season that is equal parts scorching heat and humidity (i.e. a great recipe for boob sweat and chafing).

Although strapless bras become a staple in most underwear drawer during the summer, they don’t exactly have a reputation for being comfortable items of clothing. Lively, however, knows how to make one worth wearing, and this style is devoid of both straps and underwire.
The Great Eros Sonata Tie Longline Bralette, $72
This longline bralette is comfortable, yes, but it’s also perfect for plunging tops or layering with other lightweight summer camisoles and breezy blouses.
This bra is useful for those one strap garments you have filling your summer wardrobe, but it’s also chic and minimal enough that it wouldn’t hurt to let it peep out from under a camisole. Or, if you’re daring. wear it as a stand alone with a chic pair of wide-leg, high-waisted pants.

When you have big boobs, the holy trinity of bras is comfort, convenience, and support. (No one wants to spend the better part of their morning getting into a bra.) This Lane Bryant number closes at the front while offering a style that is permissive to whatever plunge tops and dresses (especially racerback styles) the summer season may throw your way.
I actually have two of these and can swear by the fact that this is the most-comfortable bra I’ve ever put on my body—it feels more like a second skin that an undergarment. This scoop-neck style is specifically great for support under your rotation of summer crop tops.
Forever 21 Lace Halter Bralette, $13
This bra isn’t adjustable, which means you lose some flexibility in terms of how it’s worn, but if you’re in a pinch this bralette will work for a halter or low-back top and is pretty enough that it doesn’t hurt if it peeps out.
Dominique Noemi Strapless Bra, $39
As someone who has been moving through most of my life with DDs, when I’m picking a strapless bra, I tend to prefer a longline one since it feels like it’s actually keeping things up properly. The bonus here is that the style also works for backless summer outfits.
True&Co Longline Bralette, $46
For a bra that can do both, this True&Co bralette can be an undergarment and a shirt in and of itself.
