Once upon a time, I used to slather myself in tanning oil to bake in the sun (suffice to say, my sun care routine has drastically changed). Now? I use this, whether I’m at the beach or not. It’s an SPF 50 body oil that goes on silky soft and leaves your skin feeling divine when you put it on, absorbing almost immediately into your skin for long-lasting hydration and protection.

Here’s the thing though—it’s an oil, so if you have oily skin or are prone to breaking out, it can be a little much. This also means you need to let is soak into your skin if you plan on getting wet or going swimming and reapply afterwards (which you should do with any sunscreen!) otherwise, you can burn more easily.

It really is dreamy though, which is why it’s #5 on our list. And you can get it in a 1 ounce version, too, so if you want to give your face a little glow on the go, “dew” yourself a favor and dab it on your points for a lewk that’s totally *chef’s kiss*.

Gone are the days when you run the risk of getting a sunburn because of an unreliable aerosol can. This is pretty much the best SPF spray you can get your hands on, largely because you can count on it for even coverage—even in hard to reach places or when it’s upside down.

Seamless spray abilities aside, the formulation is hard to beat. It’s lightweight and airy, never sticky or tacky like other spray sunscreens sometimes get. Thanks to the added antioxidants, skin gets a boost of vitamin C and a lil’ extra protection against free radicals.

It’s hard to find anything wrong with it, but if we had to be picky, it can be a little bit greasy, even after you rub it in. Some reviews complain it stained swimsuits and clothing—I have yet to have that problem, however, you definitely need to work it into your skin. Still, that has never threatened its place in my backpack.

This is a magical lil’ stick that deserves a spot in every beach bag, purse, fanny pack—whatever it is you’re carrying with you out in the sun. Unlike other sticks and balms that leave behind chalky residues or greasy streaks, Glow Stick is a dry oil, so it goes on slick, but absorbs into the skin on impact. Don’t let its looks fool you—it’s featherlight and completely grease-free on skin.

The only reason is didn’t rank higher is because of its small size. I wish it was bigger—I’d rub my whole body on it like a kitten in a pile of catnip. This small size does come in handy, though, because you can pack it in just about anything. Until it comes in a jumbo size, I will continue to use it religiously as an SPF-infused highlighter that gives my cheeks, nose, and collarbones some extra fun in the sun.

This shimmery body lotion is heavenly. It rubs into skin effortlessly, leaving just a touch of shine from light-reflecting minerals to give you a little oomph when you’re out in the sun. It’s also nourishing for skin, thanks to a blend of healthy emollients and boosting botanicals that lock in moisture for all-day hydration.

The only reason it’s not number one? It’s a little pricy. $42 is a lot of money for a body lotion or a sunscreen. Is it worth it? Absolutely. But it’s not a budget product. Regardless, it’s freakin’ good, and well worth the money if you can spare it.

I mean, is anyone surprised this is our Number 1? Supergoop’s original Unseen Suncreen has reigned supreme as our go-to SPF accessory for years, and will continue to do so until someone finds something better (though I don’t think they will.)

This is the closest thing you will find to magic in a bottle. True to its name, Unseen Sunscreen is practically invisible, a scentless, colorless, primer-esque cream that leaves you protected from the sun while looking like nothing’s there. If you hate wearing sunscreen but know it’s important (aka, anyone ever), I suggest—nay, beg—that you buy this product. You can use it as an SPF-infused makeup primer underneath whatever it is you’re wearing or rub it over your face as your final step for invisible protection you won’t even notice.

Best part is, a little bit of this stuff goes a long way. Whether you buy the full-size bottle or the sample, you can stretch it out for a season’s worth of magic. 10/10, no notes.
