Target is a department-store institution built on convenience and desirability: Where else you can satisfy your Chip and Joanna Gaines fix, pick up some natural-beauty essentials, and purchase (affordable!) activewear in one fell shopping swoop? And starting next year, the Target experience is going to be even more seamless, with the company’s plan to follow the footsteps of Amazon and Costco by rolling out same-day delivery.
By 2019, Target is expected to offer same-day delivery on all products from a majority of its stores.
CNN Money reports that Target recently purchased Shipt, a company that uses personal shoppers to buy and deliver items from a number of stores and retailers. So what does this $550 million acquisition mean for your convenient shopping needs? By early 2018 (which begins just *weeks* from now), Target will begin to roll out same-day delivery from about half its stores starting with products like (discounted) groceries, home products, electronics, and select other items. By 2019, Target is expected to offer same-day delivery on all products from a majority of its stores.
“With Shipt’s network of local shoppers and their current market penetration, we will move from days to hours, dramatically accelerating our ability to bring affordable same-day delivery to guests across the country,” said John Mulligan, Target’s chief operating officer.
Which makes me wonder: In 2018 will anything be undeliverable?
