The Second Skin Unlined Bra is a totally smoothing and supportive style, sans any darts, padding, or molded cups. Made from buttery soft microfiber, it's true to its name and contours close to your body's natural curves as a second skin. "The magic is in our microfiber double ply smoothing fabric, it’s made from a special blend and designed for all day comfort," says Cohen. "Most competitors use sheer fabrics that can leave you feeling exposed, or they need to incorporate darts which can cause lines and bumps under clothing. Our goal was to deliver a totally smooth and supportive style that lets your natural shape be the star."
Why we love it
Cohen is right—the microfiber fabric is a game-changer, and honestly, feels so damn soft. Buttery is the only word I can use to describe how it feels, as it practically melts against your skin and makes you forget you're wearing anything in the first place. And even though it feels naked, the double lining protects you from any unwanted nipple poppage in chilly situations.
But the sculpted support is even more impressive. Both the cups and bands hug your curves without causing any digging or spillage. Even under skin-tight T-shirts and bodysuits, you can't see a thing. As a 34C/sometimes D, I really appreciate the subtle wire cups that don't skimp on support, keeping me perky without overdoing it on the push-up front. Plus, the flexible nickel also contours to your body, so there's no prodding or pushing while you wear.
That said, it does contain wire, so if you're looking for something completely barely there, a bralette might be more your speed. Similarly, if you want something to wear under tank tops or dresses, a strapless or multi-way bra might be a better option, too. The straps on the new Second Skin bra are thick and hardy—perfect for support, but unfortunately not invisible under anything that's adorned with a spaghetti strap. That said, you'll want to wear it under T-shirts, sweaters, and long-sleeve tees all day. (And you'll forget you're wearing it, too.)
