How to Use Vinegar to Keep Your Living Space Bug-Free

Spring is (finally) here, and those warmer temps are a gift after what seemed like the longest winter ever (just me?). But it's not all sunshine and rainbows—once the temps rise, you do run the risk of winding up with some uninvited new roomies: bugs. Sure, they may be small—but if you don't want to cohabitate with a bunch of creepy-crawlies all season long, there's an easy—and totally natural!—way to deter them from your space.

The 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar is totally safe for you and your pets, and it won't hurt the bugs: As long as it's diluted, the acetic acid in the vinegar just makes the creepy-crawlies to find a home elsewhere.

Instead of using poisonous pesticides that could be harmful to you (and obviously super detrimental to your gnatty friends), Apartment Therapy recommends spraying a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar around your window frame, both indoors and outdoors. The mix is totally safe for you and your pets, and it won't hurt the bugs: As long as it's diluted, the acetic acid in the vinegar just leads them to find a home elsewhere.
