When I buy performance-wear, I normally gravitate toward bright and bold colors and patterns. If you rummage through my closet, you'll find no shortage of tangerine orange workout sets, orchid purple, moisture-wicking tops, and baby pink sweats. After struggling to mix and match my athleisurewear and curate outfits for the gym, I decided to go on a colorful wardrobe hiatus and embark on a journey for basics. That's when I discovered Vuori: An internet-beloved headquarters for high-quality athleisure and workout basics that go with everything and anything in your closet.
What's Vuori?
Known for its ultra-soft performance-wear, Vuori easily climbed the athleisurewear ranks when it launched in 2014—it really took off in 2020 though, back when many people ditched stiff jeans and formal tops for more comfortable, practical athleisure. At-home-wear reigned supreme (and still does to this day) and Vuori proved itself to be a worthy contender of our wallets and wardrobes. Thanks to its soft and durable workout and leisure pieces, the brand is able to offer both comfort and practicality.
Vuori sells all the things, from long-sleeve crop tops to comfy sweats to insulated jackets so warm, they keep you toasty even in 40 degree weather. How I know? I've tested the coat in wintry Chicago (brrr). You can even shop cozy and functional accessories like this California Beanie and anti-odor Crew Socks.

But perhaps most impressive (and what makes Vuori stand out from the rest) is its commitment to the environment and ethical manufacturing practices. If you scroll on the brand's page, you'll be quick to find its code of conduct, which details Vuori's stance on ethical labor. Peep further and you'll find the brand's dedication to partnering with environmentally-friendly manufacturers that keep material waste and high water use at arm's length.
Aside from Vuori's impressive portfolio, I can attest to Vuori's top-tier quality. The stitching is neat and clean, there's no pilling in sight, and the fabric feels extra luxe—what's not to love? From cream waffle crews to my personal favorite, the buttery-soft leggings for everyday use, check out the Vuori products I tested (and made space for in my tiny NYC closet).
The best of Vuori
This is Vuori’s newest launch: The AllTheFeels Legging made with the all-new BlissBlend fabric—an ultra soft and stretchy material that feels like an everyday legging but moves with you like a performance legging. I’ve been testing the AllTheFeels leggings for a couple weeks now, wearing them to Orangetheory (a HIIT-type workout), recovery walks with my dogs, and lounges around the house. They’re my new favorite leggings, and I wish I had them in every color!
When I’m running or lifting, I never have to adjust—the material really does fit very snug, and moves with me wherever I go. And as someone who sweats a LOT, the moisture-wicking material does a great job drying really quickly (generally I’ll be fully dry by the time I get home from the gym—a 10-minute drive from my house), so that’s a functional feature I really appreciate.
Sizes available: XXS-XXL
Colors: 5
Pros:
- Extremely soft, yet durable
- Great for high-intensity workouts and leisure activities as well
- Sweat-wicking
- Pricey
- There *is* a middle seam that may cause camel toe
Holy guacamole. Constructed out of a polyester and elastane blend, these wide leg pants are beyond buttery soft. What I love about them? This pair is high-waisted and hugs my legs in all the right places while giving just enough flare at the bottom (peach included). One thing to note: As someone who is 5’1, these pants do tend to run long without any shoes, so I’d recommend wearing them with thicker soles. I paired mine with chunky boots.
This pair is stretchy and forgiving, but also has an elasticated tie for a contoured fit. Even more to swoon over? I can dress them down with sneakers and a tee or up with a chunky knit and some booties. They’re my new go-to pair of pants.

“These Vuori Performance Jogger were the first things I bought when the pandemic sent us all into quarantine. Other people were stocking up on toilet paper, and I was buying the incredibly soft sweatpants I’d initially hesitated over because of the price. (#priorities) And let me tell you: Three years of working from home later, they’ve 100 percent held up. Sure, they’ve pilled a little on the inside after so many washes, but these still might be the softest things I’ve ever put on my legs. They withstood my growing belly and hips through and after a pregnancy without getting misshapen or stretched out. I reach for them whenever I’m looking to get cozy, but don’t want to feel like a total schlub since they have that just-loose-enough stylish fit. If there’s such a thing as “comfort clothing,” these joggers are it. ” -Jenny Heimlich, Senior Health & Fitness Editor
Pros:
- Incredibly soft
- Last for years
- Relaxed, stretchy fit, without getting stretched out
- Stylish cut
Cons:
- Can be too warm for hotter days
- Not exactly budget-friendly
“I am very picky when it comes to running shorts, and these are one of the best pairs I’ve ever tried. They’re lightweight but not flimsy; loose and mobile enough to open up my stride without making me feel naked. Plus, they’re super cute. I’ll wear them to the track just as soon as I’ll put them on for brunch, or a hike, or a day at the beach. The only thing that would make them even better is more pocket space: There’s only one tiny zip pocket in the front, just large enough for a credit card or some keys.” -Heimlich
Material: 50% Recycled Polyester, 42% Polyester, 8% Elastane
Sizes: XXS–XXL
Colors: 10
Pros:
- Flexible, four-way stretch fabric
- Elastic waist keeps them in place without digging into the skin
- Ample coverage without being restrictive
Cons:
- Only one small pocket in the front
“I’ve recently started playing pickleball with my boyfriend, which meant that I needed the perfect outfit to at least look the part (even if my athletic skills aren’t quite up to par). This skirt is the ideal combination of comfort and practicality. It has built-in shorts (love!) to prevent any uncomfortable chaffing and an ultra-flattering high-waisted band. The best part? It’s highly versatile, so you can bet I’ll be wearing it on and off the courts.” -Maki Yazawa, Food Writer
Material: 72% Polyester, 28% Elastane
Sizes available: XXS-XXL (regular and long)
Colors: Black, White, & Baltic.
Pros:
- High-waisted, decent size range (that comes in regular and long)
- Built-in shorts
- Durable fabric that holds up well in the wash
- Does not wrinkle easily
Cons:
- Pockets are only on the built-in shorts
- Limited color selection
- Flares out a bit on the sides
- Runs slightly big
Sister of the Daily Wideleg pants, the Daily is the coziest pair of leggings I’ve trained in. I’ve taken these baddies out for runs and lifts (even on plane rides), making them ideal for runners, weightlifters, gym-goers, and travelers. Similar to the Wideleg, this pair is high-waisted and has an drawcord waistband for a more tailored fit. Albeit sweating through my chest and shoulder day, the Daily kept me dry and warm thanks to its moisture-wicking polyester and elastane blend. Now, I don’t spend a day without them.

As a runner, I like to wear a stretchy, supportive, and stylish sports bra, and the Yosemite ticks all of my boxes. The scoop neckline makes this bra flattering to wear and has a strappy back that does double duty as design and support. With two removable cups, the Yosemite makes my laundry days a breeze. Plus, it’s moisture-wicking and breathable, thanks to the polyester and elastane mix. As a 32A, I found this bra to be supportive enough for runs and #hotgirlwalks.

I’m a boxy tee kind of gal, and this one exceeds my expectations of a white tee. Made of cotton and elastane, the Feather tee is ultra comfy, soft, and breathable. Being 5’1, finding not-too-long tees is constantly a challenge, but the bottom of the shirt falls exactly at my hips, rendering this tee wearable for all shorties. When I’m at home, you’ll catch me wearing this tee accompanied by sweatpants and crocs or with mom jeans when I’m headed out. It’s the perfect white tee (quite literally).

The Daily Crop offers a harmonious blend of stretch and compression. A part of the itty bitty boobie committee, I can appreciate a built-in bra, and this one offers medium support, ideal for sports, runs, hikes, jogs, and long walks. What I appreciate is the compressive scoop neck. It’s flattering, yet supportive, so you don’t have to worry about nip slips. Made of polyester and elastane, this moisture-wicking crop top keeps sweat at bay.

The Canyon Insulated Jacket has climbed the ranks in my coat rack as my go-to gym coat. Made of polyamide and insulated with Primaloft, this jacket is super warm, cozy, and water-resistant. I’ve worn this jacket in Chicago in 40 degree weather and during a rain storm. The result? It held up and kept me toasty and dry. Before Chicago, I was wearing this jacket daily to the gym in New York, and love it for going out, as it features a full length zipper to lock out the wind and two side pockets for storing your hands or essentials.

There’s no shirt I love better than this Slouchy Waffle Crew. It’s roomy, oversized (you can easily tuck this into leggings, jeans, or sweats), and the waffle texture is comforting to wear. While it features a casual silhouette, you can dress this shirt up. I’ve paired this crew with the Daily Widelegs and some black booties to spruce up my outfit. Warning: It’s made of a cotton, polyester, modal, and elastane blend, and is so soft, you’re not going to want to take it off. I definitely have not since receiving it in the mail.

Moisture-wicking, UPF 30+ protection, and odor-resistant, this long-sleeve crop tee is doing all of the hard work. Having taken this tee out for a spin during treadmill runs and lifts, I can attest to how warm and sweat-resistant this tee has been. BTW, I sweat a lot, and was surprised to find that I didn’t reek of BO post-jog or jumprope session. For me, this tee retains heat, so would recommend it for outdoor runs or air conditioned spaces. I’ve washed this long-sleeve tee several times, and so far, it still hasn’t pilled.

“Pockets, pockets, pockets. If you know me, you know that few things make me more excited than dresses (or skirts) with built-in pockets. What can I say? It’s essential for stashing my lipgloss or extra treats for my dogs. Needless to say, this super comfy skort has built-in pockets, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. What’s more, the material is, as the name suggests, breezy as can be thanks to their breathable performance stretch woven fabric. No sweaty nooks and crannies to worry about here.” — Yazawa
