You've probably heard the term "grounded" used throughout your life, and while you might intuitively get the gist of what it means, you may not realize that what it truly refers to is having a sense of control over your emotional state. Some individuals struggle more than others with this, but everyone has days when they feel anything but grounded (especially in these crazy times!). And while there are numerous ways to regain command of your feelings, on the latest episode of Good Moves, BK Yoga Club founder Paris Alexandra demos how yoga for grounding works in a 20-minute flow specifically designed to get you centered.

The routine, which BK Yoga Club co-founder Alicia Ferguson helps Alexandra demo, consists of a series of standing poses designed to help you ground emotionally through exercises that ground you physically. These include side stretches, forward folds, half-moon poses, high lunges with vertical twists, tree poses, standing splits, warrior twos, triangle poses, and other common yoga poses.

Alexandra then invites you to ask yourself what it is that grounds you—perhaps it's deep breathing, thoughts of your loved ones, or just the simple act of taking some time for yourself to move through this series of yoga poses. Whatever the case may be, she wants you to bring that grounding force into this practice and let it help you stay centered through even the most balance-challenging poses in the flow.

"[Imagine] as your inhale and exhale becoming more rooted and grounded, setting that energy, that intention into the earth... knowing that whatever is happening in our lives, we're always invited to come back to our center," she says.

If you're feeling some internal chaos that needs calming, or you just need to get some of your emotions in check, press play to get grounded through this soothing, yet core-activating yoga, flow as soon as you can.
