The genius way Antoni from “Queer Eye” uses coconut oil in the kitchen

Queer Eye isn’t just a cathartic outlet for feeling all the feels (admit it, you totally tear up during every episode). The show is also a veritable gold mine of wellness tips. Between Jonathan Van Ness’ DIY honey mask and Antoni Porowski’s know-how on underused ancient grains, the Fab 5 is helping all viewers and fans beyond their projects du jour live their best lives.

Recently, I chatted with Porowski (I know, swoon), the show’s resident food guru, who was in New York City promoting Vita Coco Sparkling and also prepping his soon-to-open new restaurant. After he spoke at length about his love for all things coconut water, he mentioned another hydrating coconut-derived staple he always keeps in the kitchen: coconut oil.

Porowski further explains that when the thick, chunky coconut oil is combined with water, it turns into a really silky texture and is able to lift out any gross smells. And since the cameras have often caught his curious nose sniffing around to identify strange scents, he’s definitely a source to trust on how to banish unwanted odors. Coconut-scented hands are way more appealing than garlic-scented hands, wouldn’t you say?

And hey, maybe Porowski can save some of  that coconut oil for Van Ness, who can use it to work wonders in the grooming department. After all, the ingredient is an all-star multi-tasker.
