This Turmeric, Ginger, and Apple Spice Smoothie Is the Anti-Inflammatory Sip That Will Take You From Summer to Fall
The three major ingredients in this smoothie are turmeric, ginger, and apple. The apple provides a tart brightness that make it such a refreshing thirst quencher (especially when it's sipped chilled). But the ginger and turmeric's warming properties provide the drink with sweater weather vibes instead of tank top ones.

Molly Kumar, a recipe developer and the creator of Easy Cooking With Molly, says she came up with this recipe as a way to add more benefits to her blender. "I've always been a fan of apple smoothies but wanted to make them more power-packed and immunity-boosting, which is why I decided to add turmeric to it," Kumar says. "Turmeric powder is easily found in most households and is the quickest and easiest way to add that dose of immunity to your body." To her point, turmeric is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory herbs there is—which explains why it's been a staple of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries before it became widely adopted as an ingredient in the U.S.

Kumar also says the apples pair especially well with the turmeric, too. "The sweetness in apples makes the slight heat in turmeric powder disappear," she says. In terms of what to keep in mind when making this recipe, her pro tip is to either use fresh turmeric or an organic turmeric powder, which she says in her experience has a stronger and purer taste. "If you're using fresh turmeric, wash it and then peel the outer skin, only using the yellow-reddish part. A small half-inch piece of fresh turmeric is enough when using four to five apples."
Kumar also says that this smoothie tastes just as delicious warm as it is cold, so you can keep it in your drink rotation even late in the season. "To make it warm, just use warm water when making it instead of cold [and omit the ice]," she says.
