Drink (and Eat) to Your Health at the Butcher’s Daughter’s New West Village Outpost
The Butcher’s Daughter is already a go-to destination for New Yorkers in need of morning elixir shots and smashed avocado toast, but your next outing to the vegetarian restaurant and juice bar just might be for happy hour. The new West Village location officially opened last week—and this time, the cocktail lineup has just as much to offer as the brunch menu. So, yes, we are predicting insane crowds.
“We’re turning things up a notch [at] the bar,” says co-owner Heather Tierney, who's the founder of a couple hot NYC cocktail spots means this doesn't come out of kale-eating left field. “Our cold-pressed cocktails will be made with full liquor—a harder edge for New Yorkers.” That means hibiscus margarita popsicles spiked with Herradura Silver tequila served alongside biodynamic organic wines and craft beers on tap.
While only breakfast, brunch, and booze are currently available, a dinner menu will be introduced at the end of the month, serving up a favorite at the recently opened Venice Beach location: crisp wood-oven vegan pizzas topped with fresh, seasonal veggies.
“We basically want to give people a reason to come in at any hour,” Tierney says of the new location (which is quite a bit larger than the OG Nolita location—to the tune of about 500 square feet). And if that means an evening spent chowing down on pizza and (cold-pressed) margs? She’s got you covered: “In the morning, you can detox with our juices and healthy grub.” (We're onto this vicious circle thing.)
Consider the West Village rollout as further proof that The Butcher’s Daughter is solidifying itself as more as an eatery and lifestyle brand than juice bar. (Tierney made her West Coast debut earlier this year with not just a cafe, but a bed-and-breakfast, winery, and food truck too.)
Hey, as long as the avocado toast isn’t going anywhere, we’ll drink to that.

Fun fact: Heather Tierney thinks you should start your day with a bubble bath. If you can't make it to The Butcher's Daughter, we highly suggest making this avocado margarita at home.
