Before any workout, you can find me digging through my dresser to find something to wear. Two drawers are stocked to the brim with sports bras, tank tops, T-shirts, running leggings, biker shorts, exercise dresses, and workout skirts. With so many mix-and-match options, I end up overwhelming myself. I’m cognizant of the fact that my workouts can take up to two hours, so I want to be as comfy as possible. So, to make things easier on myself and my schedule, I decided to try out a unitard: Qinsen Square Neck One Piece ($30)—and it’s been a game changer for getting dressed.
Sizes: S-XL
Colors: 8
Pros:
- Buttery soft
- Stretchy
- Machine washable
- Has a built-in bra
- Good value
Cons:
- Shorts may ride up
- Straps are not adjustable
There’s something so effortless about wearing a unitard to the gym. With Qinsen’s one piece, I can just throw it on without having to worry about things like whether my cropped T-shirts are too short for my shorts or if my tank top reveals the color of my sports bra.
Constructed out of nylon and spandex, this one-piece feels buttery soft on my skin, so soft that I can’t stop wearing it. During walks or upper-body workouts, the material stretches as I move, and I never feel constricted. Also to love? The front of the garment doesn’t have a seam (the back does have a gusset), so I don’t have to fret about camel-toe. One thing to note is that the short part of the unitard can ride up from time to time and requires some shimmying down to prevent chafing. Because of this, I don’t recommend them for running. Instead, I propose wearing it for walks or everyday wear.
However, this piece does have other functional features that make up for this, like the built-in sports bra, which happens to be my favorite part of the unitard. As someone who’s a part of the itty bitty committee, I’ve found the bra to be supportive whenever I’ve hit the treadmills for speed walks. I even put this piece to work during upper-body workouts and feel locked in and supported every step of the way. And thanks to the square neck, the one piece shapes the chest area, making it a stylish onesie for everyday wear, be it grocery runs or grabbing some lunch at a casual spot. Something to consider: some shoppers say that the bra isn’t as supportive for people with larger chests due to the lack of adjustable straps.

Ever since adding Qinsen’s one piece to my wardrobe, I’ve been wearing it non-stop. It’s comfortable, minimizes the amount of time it takes to get dressed, and has added protection whenever you want to kick your workouts up a notch. As a regular gym-goer, I hardly see people wearing or praising unitards. They’re literally the unsung heroes of workout clothing. I have the charcoal gray colorway (looks more like a mauve purple, in my opinion), and I intend on stocking up on the beige and black one pieces next.
