In no way, shape, or form in the last decade or so have I thought, ‘hey, you know what my apartment is really missing: A mini fridge.’ Decor and upgrades have been siloed to finding art, bookshelves, and great linens that make my cozy studio apartment feel even more like home. Yet, my kitchen always felt like it was missing something.
And it turned out, my apartment really was missing a mini fridge. But not just any mini fridge, the Rocco Super Smart Fridge. Instead of weird-smelling plastic, this sleek fridge is made of colored steel, which makes it more primed for statement piece status than siloed-to-the-garage. Quiet as a mouse, this fridge is *meant* to host the bevy of design-forward drinks on the market, and look just as good doing it. Here's my honest review of the Rocco Super Smart Fridge.
Temperature range: 37º-64º F | Dimensions: 34.5 in x 24 in x 16 in | Weight: 128 pounds
Pros:
- Extremely quiet
- Isolated temperature zones
- Stylish and blends into decor
Cons:
- Expensive
- Limited adjustability of shelves
About the Rocco Mini Fridge
When selecting your fridge, you get four colorway choices: white, graphite, yellow, and green. All come with the signature semi-opaque, stripe-y glass door. I chose green because—if you’ve ever watched any Well+Good videos you know—I have a very green-theme kitchen going on. Each fridge also comes with controlled temperature zones, playing cards and coasters, and 5 ½ racks for beverages.
It stands at a little above 34 inches—a little taller than your standard side table, but has a nifty little drink tray on top that you can fill with beverage accouterments or decorations. (I personally keep flowers and a few small bottles up there.)
The fridge can hold up to 88 (standard) cans of whatever, or 27 wine bottles. Or, a combination of both. There’s also a smaller half-sized tray at the bottom of the fridge, which is perfect for smaller boutique bottles, or even skincare. (Guess what I use it for.) The shelves are also adjustable, which is a nice touch.

Setting up the fridge
The company sends a setup crew to unload and set up your fridge, which really adds to the elevated experience. (Plus, it is just generally helpful—this thing is made of welded steel, so it’s not exactly light, and unlike college, I’m unwilling to hurt myself trying to move furniture.)
There’s also an app that allows you to control both the light, two different temperature ranges for the fridge, and take “inventory,’ where the app can tell you what brands you’re low on based on a scan.
My real opinion on the fridge
Pros
I did not expect to love this fridge as much as I do. Every table or cart I tried to fit into my kitchen space felt too big, or too weird, or just *wrong*, but I always had this open space that needed something. And, as a food editor, you can imagine I have a lot of different beverages in my home that need storing. Not only is this the perfect unobtrusive size, it doubles as a lovely statement piece that only adds to my kitchen, but doesn’t detract or distract.
Speaking of unobtrusive, it’s also *very* quiet for a fridge, only the tiniest of motor whirring noises that are completely unnoticeable in the din of other household noises.
Cons
Now, the fridge does have some downsides. I did not use the app at all, though some users on Reddit are disgruntled with the UX of it all, and the ‘stocking’ feature wasn’t very accurate. Though it’s also very easy to just open your fridge yourself and take inventory, so I don’t find that feature necessary, and honestly, Rocco could’ve done without it.
Another feature that doesn’t pay off for some is how little the shelves can be adjusted: about ½-inch each way, which, if you’re a serious wine collector and have some funkier, non-traditional-sized wine bottles, may not jibe with your collection.
Final thoughts
If you’re someone who hosts a lot, are a casual beverage enthusiast, or don’t like the look of traditional wine fridges—that look, well, like a sterile wine fridge—this fridge is definitely for you, if you don’t mind the steeper cost ($1,795).
There are a few tweaks that could be made to improve their app experience, but if you’re ok with an analog refrigeration experience, and just want to bask in the glory of a gorgeous fridge in your kitchen/living room/dining room, the Rocco fridge may have a space in your life.
