These Are the Healthy Must-Haves Tove Lo’s Food Guru Keeps on the Tour Bus
Don't let lyrics about getting high and bingeing on Twinkies fool you—Swedish songbird Tove Lo is all about living a healthful life (okay, mostly). She's committed to sticking to a clean, vegan diet, which can be tricky when you happen to be on a world tour (her new album Lady Wood is out now). That's why she brings along her go-to wellness woman, Courtney Swan.
The Los Angeles-based food activist created Realfoodology to teach people what it means to eat clean, and Lo is such a fan that she saves a seat for her right on the tour bus.
Want to stock up for your own travel plans? Swan shares the products she keeps in heavy rotation on tour with Lo.
Perfect Bars
"I love having these on hand for topping off yogurt or chia seed pudding with in the morning or when hunger strikes in the afternoon," Swan says. "They're so filling and jam-packed with healthy, organic ingredients. But since the sugar content is high (as in, a whopping average of 15 grams), she recommends only eating half. (Hey, there's something to be said about getting a sugar fix right before you step on stage.)
Bulletproof Brain Octane
Swan says she takes this MCT oil (made of the caprylic acid from coconut oil) everywhere. "The body converts it to energy and it has potent anti-microbial properties for maintaining a healthy gut," she says. Considering how much travel can throw off the digestion process, that's definitely good news.
Vital Proteins Collagen Packs
Collagen is majorly trending right now, and Swan makes sure to get her fix daily. "I put one of these in my matcha latte every morning," she says. "Collagen is not only fantastic for your skin, hair and nails, but its also loaded with protein and is really healing for the gut."
Suja Twelve Essentials
Airports and rest stops aren't exactly overflowing with healthy food options, which is why Swan likes to keep this organic juice handy—it's loaded with greens (and no sugary fruit). Her other Suja fave? Lemon Love, which she uses as an on-the-road substitute for lemon water.
Navitas Naturals Chia Seeds
A little chia can go a long way. "I could not live without these!" Swan says. "I'm always adding them in my smoothies or yogurt and even make chia pudding to have for breakfast."
