Aries (March 20 to April 19)
Red Echeveria agavoides "lipstick plant"
Fiery Aries is a ball of energy: Think bold, ambitious, and always running headfirst into every situation that comes their way. This sign doesn’t really have the patience to deal with a plant that requires excess care, which is why the red echeveria agavoides (also known as the "lipstick plant") is such a perfect option.

Not only is its bright hue reminiscent of this fire sign’s impulsive nature, but this succulent is always moving, going, doing, and creating. “This little sunburst perfectly represents the powerful and vibrant energy that an Aries exudes,” says Pavlova. Once established, it only needs to be watered occasionally, making it an ideal low-maintenance option.
Taurus (April 19 to May 20)
Aeonium arboreum "Zwartkop"
Represented by the bull, Taurus is a fixed Earth sign and doesn't like change—at all. A deeply rooted plant that hardly moves is the ideal complement to this sign, which is why the aeonium arboreum "Zwartkop" (large purple aeonium) is a great choice. It’s naturally grounding and incredibly patient—in fact, in the right circumstances, it can even grow up to six feet tall.
“This plant requires time, stable ground, and very little change to its environment,” stresses Pavlova. “All these considerations make this strong-rooted, beautiful plant a perfect complement to this focused sign.”
Gemini (May 20 to June 20)
Sedum spurium "Purpurteppich"
Geminis are often referred to as the most charismatic of the Zodiac signs, and this chatty set of twins can get along with pretty much anybody. The sedum spurium or "Purpurteppich" is a plum plant that’s tolerant of warm weather and even drought conditions, making it perfect for summer days. It can also sometimes grow pretty pink flowers, adding a pop of color to the home.
“This blooming succulent embodies the airy quality of the Gemini in its everyday leaves,” says Pavlova. “They grow upward to reveal a stunning flower that can’t be resisted.”
Cancer (June 20 to July 22)
Agave americana
Much like their celestial spirit animal the crab, Cancers often hide behind their shells. They’re highly sensitive and intuitive, and easily pick up the energies of a room. For this super-emotional sign, the agave americana is perfect because it’s secretive, only blooming at the end of its lifespan (an average of 10 years). Its gray-green leaves are reminiscent of the water, which is where a Cancer feels most at home, and since Cancer is one of the most domestically oriented signs of the zodiac, having a towering, comforting plant at home is key.
Leo (July 22 to August 22)
Delosperma nubigenum "yellow ice plant'
The true leader of the zodiac, Leo is represented by the royal, majestic, and proud lion. And, of course, you can’t forget a lion’s gorgeous golden-yellow fur. For a Leo, the delosperma nubigenum or "yellow ice plant" represents their personality perfectly: “These yellow blooms bring a similar light to your garden or home, creating an air of optimism through their bright hue—much like the rays of the sun, the planet that rules this sign,” says Pavlova. Yellow ice plants are drought-tolerant and survive on very little water. This means that while Leos are out ruling the world, they won’t have to worry about whether they’ve watered their plants.
Virgo (August 22 to September 22)
Crassula ovata "jade"
Logical and practical, Virgo is a true Earth sign that’s governed by Mercury, the planet of communication. Rather than talk, though, a Virgo internalizes conversations, which makes them great listeners. They have a nurturing quality to them, which is why the Crassula ovata, or jade plant, is a great choice. The sturdy succulent grows almost like a miniature tree, with a trunk and branches.
“[Virgo] is just like this fast-growing succulent that supports many more life forms in and around it with its many leaves and branches,” says Pavlova. The jade plant also has very basic needs—tons of water and sunlight—which makes it easy for perfectionist Virgo to look after.
Libra (September 22 to October 23)
Crassula rupestris X perforata "Baby Necklace"
Represented by the scale, Libras are all about balance, harmony, and unity. They prefer to have the ultimate order and symmetry in their life by seeking out equilibrium in all areas of their being, whether that’s health, relationships, or career. The Crassula rupestris x perforata or "Baby Necklace" can represent that balance, since it grows in symmetry, even though it doesn’t get to be very big in size.
“This succulent grows in perfect geometric form, in all directions with the same alternating shape, over and over—just the way a Libra likes it.” says Pavlova. White and pink flowers tend to adorn it over the summer, adding in a delicate quality to the plant.
Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)
Neohenricia sibbettii
Scorpios can be deeply emotional and tend to retreat into their feelings for long stretches of time. The intuitive sign can get overwhelmed by the emotions of others, which is why, for them, a plant that grows in isolation is ideal.
The Neohenricia sibbettii is a quick-growing succulent that doesn’t need a lot of light to thrive, emulatating the way the sensual Scorpio views life. “When given the space to just be themselves, Scorpios always find a way to bloom—just like this plant.” says Pavlova.
Sagittarius (November 21 to December 21)
Sedum spectabile "Autumn Joy"
The last fire sign of the zodiac, Sagittarians are full of excitement, joy, and a zest for life. These free-spirited archers are always ready to travel the world and the Sedum spectabile or "Autumn Joy" puts on a spectacular show that caters to a Sag's need for wanderlust. Boasting large pink flower clusters, this is a sunny plant that’s always spreading happiness.
“Full of joy and life, these bright blossoms are a Sagittarius free spirit reincarnated,” says Pavlova. “A Sagittarius is always the first to jump on an adventure and spark a sense of joy in all of us, and who doesn’t feel joy near this multi-petaled flower?”
Capricorn (December 21 to January 19)
Sedum morganianum "donkey's tail"
Dependable and consistent, Capricorns truly embody the traits of the earth. This ambitious, dedicated sea goat needs as much stability as it can get, which is why the Sedum morganianum or "donkey's tail" plant is an ideal option.
“This fast-growing ground cover of a plant can grow in all directions reliably, mirroring the steadfast traits of this sure-footed sign,” elaborates Pavlova. A popular, easy-to-grow succulent, these make really great hanging plants that can be placed near a window as a decorative ornament that’ll really light up a room.
Aquarius (January 19 to February 18)
Senecio radicans glauca "string of bananas"
The true humanitarian of the zodiac, Aquarians love to be unique and eccentric. They need a plant that’s just as unique as they are, making the senecio radicans glauca, or "string of bananas" an obvious choice.
“Going against the grain is an Aquarian’s number-one talent,” says Pavlova. “They’re always thinking of new and ingenious ways to approach things, just like this hanging succulent plant that grows upside down.” Easy to maintain and a true statement-maker, this is an ideal selection for the sign that has its head in the clouds.
Pisces (February 18 to March 20)
Senecio mandraliscae "Blue Chalksticks"
Pisces are drawn to the water, and are often considered very mysterious. They tend to get swallowed in thought, which is why a mystical plant like the Senecio mandraliscae or "Blue Chalksticks" matches up with their disposition. “Purple, blue, and growing much like an underwater coral reef, this succulent is the ideal landscape for the dreamy wonderland Pisces lives in,” says Pavlova. Ironically, though, the Blue Chalksticks need very little water, making them one of the easiest plants to care for.
